| News: Lil Wayne: Sex Columnist, Thespian, Not Guilty Pleader | | pitchforkmedia.com -
"He used to be all about the hustle and the green," some silly person over at VH1.com writes of Lil Wayne, "but these days our boy is dispensing information about the wild thing, too." Ah, yes, they must mean "Lollipop", the fascinatingly terrible chart-topper from Mr. Carter's forthcoming (probably) opus Tha Carter III. "'Lollipop,' the saucy single that's currently rocking the top of the charts suggests that a good romantic relationship is always en...More |
| News: The Vaselines Reunite! | | pitchforkmedia.com - Play Sub Pop 20th anniversary and Tigerfest; SP20 also adds Eric's Trip, Les Thugs
Though they have only 19 official recordings to their credit and broke up just after their lone full-length was released, the Vaselines have etched a special place in the hearts of many. Chief among these is a certain Kurt Cobain, whose popular grunge rock outfit Nirvana famously covered no less than three of those 19 Vaselines jams, including one (in slightly modified form) before a sizable television aud...More |

The Arcade Fire and Superchunk kept the car running after Thursday's big Barack Obama rally in Greensboro, North Carolina and rolled right into nearby Carrboro's Town Commons yesterday afternoon for round two. The state's Obama faithful, who'll cast their votes in the NC Democratic primary on May 6, were treated to yet another rousing Arcade Fire cover of David Bowie's "Heroes", all manner of on- and off-stage acrobatics, and even a cameo from some ador...More |

| News: Cee-Lo Co-Writes Jennifer Hudson Song for Sex and the City Movie Soundtrack | | pitchforkmedia.com -
We don't picture Cee-Lo as much of a cosmo drinker, but he's certainly done Odder things than co-write a song for an Oscar winner for the soundtrack of the forthcoming Sex and the City: The Movie. The movie hits theaters May 30, and its soundtrack comes out May 27 on New Line Records.
Mr. Green's contribution to Sex and the City: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack comes in the form of "All Dressed in Love", which he wrote with previous collaborator M...More |
| News: Coachella 2008 Starts Today | | pitchforkmedia.com - Festival in this photo may be more crowded than it appears

Sure, you'll have to get yourself way the hell out into the SoCal desert, drop at least a c-note on SPF and bottled agua and some sort of silly hat, wreak maximum havoc on your joints and your ear canals and, just possibly, your sanity. But this weekend, there's nowhere else in the world you'll get to see Richard D. James and Prince Rogers Nelson occupying the same zip code.

Given how amazing these gigs turned out, who wouldn't want another round of Arcade Fire rallies for presidential hopeful Barack Obama? And with the North Carolina Democratic primary looming on May 6, that's just what we'll get.
After big-upping a recent Jay Reatard performance (not all Canadians hate him, see?) in a message posted to his web "scrapbook", Arcade Fire frontguy Win Butler writes, "Speaking of a high energy band with great melodies, ...More |
